Something that I have heard before is "I'm not in crisis and I don't have a diagnosed mental illness... would I still benefit from therapy?" The short answer... Yes! I think that therapy can be helpful for lots of different reasons, and that ultimately therapy is about helping you get to know you better!
A therapist may help you in a variety of different ways to have a healthier and more fulfilling relationship with yourself, which I turn helps you have a healthier and more fulfilling life overall!
The following are just a few reasons people may want to come to therapy:
Making a big life decision
Going through a major life change
Feeling "stuck"
Struggling with reaching your goals (any type of goal!)
Not feeling as connected in relationships as you would like
Having difficulty moving through a past experience
Wanting to understand yourself and your habits better
and more!
Ultimately, if you're thinking therapy might be helpful then it probably would be! I encourage you to seek support whenever it feels right to you! Many therapists, myself included, offer a complimentary consultation, I would encourage you to talk about your reason for wanting therapy and seeing if this is something the therapist thinks they may be able to work with you on.
Until next time, Samantha
